Enjoying the Ride

Two years ago Margot and I bought a Motor Coach, that became our full time house until recently. I have thoroughly enjoyed the adventure that my wife and I have been sharing in these days. This past week we took our coach to have some warranty work done from the dealer. After picking the coach up in Nokomis, FL, we drove down to Naples, where we spent the night.

Morning View in Naples

My morning view was amazing, especially with my Carmel Macchiato in hand.

From Naples we drove our home, home. We left Naples taking the Tamiami Trail. The Tamiami trail is the highway between Tampa and Miami. It runs south along the west coast of Florida until Naples where it turns east, cutting through the Everglades until reach Miami. Typically we travel via Interstate 75, but this time I decided to take a more scenic route at least for a few miles. One of the nice things about riding in a MotorCoach is the view. The vantage point is nice rather than sitting up in a car. I enjoyed the journey as Margot and I pointed out the alligators, airboats, and looked in vain to see a black panther. The sign said they should have been crossing the road, but they didn’t. FYI. Road signs do not guarantee you will see the animals they tell you to watch for.

Sitting up high in the coach I could see across the horizon. The Everglades are uniquely beautiful. The river of grass stretches on for miles. The areas of forestry are amazing, and this is combined with wetlands creatures and a variety of winged waterfowl. All the while I am seated in an air conditioned vehicle accompanied by the love of my life, Margot. Our lovable Shih Tzu, Chewee, laid at my feet all the while.

Finding healing in the journey comes when we have the perspective of being seated with Jesus in heavenly places. I love the way Ephesians 2:6 reads in the Amplified Bible.

And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us ejoint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

The Amplified Bible (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1987), Eph 2:6.

When we Journey With Jesus, we find perspective and we are blessed with the presence of the God. On Sundays when we gather together at New Hope we sense God’s presence. Yesterday, the Holy Spirit was present as we worshipped and prayed together. Today God’s presence is just as real as we journey. Remember God said: “I will never leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6 and Hebrews 13:5)Jesus said, “I am with you to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

I love the way Leanne Payne reminds us.

This one work is ours, and no longer relying on our own cleverness at presenting the gospel, we simply trust in His Presence with us.
